Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She received the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and the first female to receive it. In addition to receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first Indian-born musician to present at and perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter. Born in London, she spent the early years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha was only a teenager, has had an impressive recording and performing career. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has performed with him for many years. In 1998, she debuted her first self-titled album Anourag. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka isn't just a performer. She published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. It is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, she has appeared in. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she played the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka shankar is a rising star and her career will keep on growing. Anoushka Shankar is a British born musician who spent her early years in London, Delhi and California. When she was nine years old, she began her studies in music under her father making her performing first on the sitar 4 years later, at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival in addition to making recordings with George Harrison. To honor her position as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
